Moscow Stories ReviewAs someone who has travelled to Moscow many times between 1986 and 1996 I found Moscow Stories to be an accurate account of the history of the period. My own experiences back up, for me, what he has written. The author's observations about Russians and their culture demonstrate that he has spent quite a bit of time in Russia with Russians and that while there, he was a keen observer of what is going on around him. The book is very authentic and a must read for someone who has an interest in Russia both then and now and seeks a better understanding of Russia today.Moscow Stories Overview

Hollywood Monster: A Walk Down Elm Street with the Man of Your Dreams ReviewComing in at 298 pages the book is a quick read. But this hasn't been a quick life for Robert Englund. The anecdotes on things that have occurred in his life tend to lack some details; however, they do range from the star studded to the hilarious. For a man who is currently considered an amazing character actor in horror films, he is possibly one of the most recognizable stars in the genre since Vincent Price. The book starts off with his young acting career (to get girls) and follows his life through to the top of becoming the horror icon Freddy Krueger.
This is great fun and a quick read. The appendix contains some fun filled favorite lists: music, movies, and kills. The lists depict Englund's tastes and well Freddy's morsals.
Hollywood Monster is a must read biography for actors, horror fans, and folks wanting to experience a large part of cinema history. Enter Night: A Biography of Metallica ReviewI was really looking forward to reading this book but I found it disappointing after the first half. When I read a biography I want to hear the facts. I really don't care to hear the opinions of the author or reviews of each album. Here is what I gather.
The author thinks that everything after Master of Puppets is pretty much crap and Cliff Burton was God.
I think this was a great disservice to Jason Newsted. He was in the band for 14 years yet he is barely mentioned at all. Jason is constantly compared to Cliff. I don't know about other people but I don't really think about that. Making statements that Jason looked like he was too small for the big stage is another slight. That's an opinion. Give me the facts and the details.
As stated in the book Cliff rarely played Bass when he was off stage. He played guitar all the time. Not to slight Cliff but he does sound like a guitarist playing Bass. It's definitely in his style. Jason is totally a bassist. He was 100% dedicated to that band. Stop making excuses for their actions. They were pricks and tell it like it is. I can't wait to hear the answer to the following question; "Why don't you guys just remix Justice and fix it?".
To be fair the first part of the book is great. There are many little things I did not know and I am a Metallica nut. After the Master of Puppets era it goes downhill. It's a Lars fest. One of the reasons for that is that the author personally knows him. Hard to be objective when one of your buddies is in the band.
Would I buy this book again? No I would just borrow it from a friend.Enter Night: A Biography of Metallica Overview

While has-been traders like this reviewer will jaw-drop at how Jared literally moved markets on the "Street," it's the dark and deeply personal episodes of the "Freak" that make this a special read. Jared was a great trader, but luckily for us he's an even better writer.
