Fundamentals of Complementary and Alternative Medicine, 4e (Micozzi, Fundamentals of Complimentary and Alternative Medicine) ReviewBy the fourth edition a book assumes a fullness and depth that comes from diligence to the subject and all its ramifications. This text covers all the basic systems of healing that general health care providers have heard of or know of. It also covers all the lesser known methods or systems of healing.
I am interested in air and sunlight as components of healing. It is covered in this text in great detail.
My own training is Osteopathic. I am familiar with manipulative medicine but not necessarily the Chiropractic, deep tissue massage, and other tissue manipulation treatment systems. Those are all covered here in detailed descriptions of the various healing systems.
As a reference for overall and comprehensive healing systems outside traditional MD medicine, this is the foundation text. You can use this text as a starting point to seek further information on any subject you wish to pursue in detail.
The organization of the text is excellent with each section containing many varieties of healing arts within the section. The tables, charts, and fact boxes are well placed and full of important details.
I recommend this text for anyone who practices alternative medicine in any form. It is a great help to understand how other healing systems interact with your own. It is also excellent for understanding the basis for the other systems that you do not personally practice.

The Mayo Clinic Book of Home Remedies: What to Do For The Most Common Health Problems ReviewThis Mayo Clinic guide is extremely simplified compared to most of the other Mayo Clinic books I have used. Its very simplicity is where it might be of use; so many medical books are overwhelming in the quantity of their information.
There is a table of contents in alphabetical order, which also includes an emergency care section dealing with such problems as; allergic reaction, bleeding, burns, shock. A section on medical supplies for your home and emergency items needed is incorporated. Each medical problem is described individually on a page with a chart of home remedies and prompts to seek medical help if, for example there is double vision for a black eye. An index is also included.
It would be an ideal book for those starting out on their own, maybe going away, even to college where they have to start dealing with their own health problems, rather than depending upon a parent. I can even picture it as a useful book to have on a vacation or somewhere, where the internet is not always available, or if someone might not always be sure of which site is a reliable one on the internet.
