Matter and Interactions ReviewThe greatest advantage in using this book is that it tries to do highly standardised topics (Electromagnetism and Mechanics) in a non-standard way. This is ambitious indeed and the book occasionally falls short. But, there are many excellent things about this book:
1) It always lays a great emphasis on fundamental principles and spends a good portion of the book elucidating them. The sections on the electric and magnetic fields, Gauss' law and Faraday's law are very well done and the physics is well emphasised instead of teaching the process of carrying out mere calculations. Having said that, the level of rigour could and should be more.
2) There are a couple of chapters on circuits and circuit elements which connect the theory done so far with practical applications such as RC circuits, AC and DC.
One of the minor criticisms I have regarding this book is that it does not cover Electromagnetic radiation in sufficient detail. There are far too many topics in too short a space. This is a slight flaw in an excellent and innovative textbook.Matter and Interactions Overview
