Handbook of Practical Gear Design (Mechanical Engineering (CRC Press Hardcover)) ReviewAnyone who engineers or specifies gears or gear drives would benefit from this book. Information on the design and function of gears is found in this well thought out text book. This book (written 1983) is greatly expanded and updated from the original (1954) version that I read in 1973. At this time, Handbook of Practical Gear Design is not quite the state of the art in gear engineering it is an excellent resource. All types of gearing are discussed. Read all the articles completely because the last part of the articles usually has newer information. (for example: the article on Hunting Teeth on page 3.8.)
