MCTS: Windows Server 2008 R2 Complete Study Guide (Exams 70-640, 70-642 and 70-643) ReviewI've studied three variations of MS cert training-Official MS Classroom Curriculum, MS Self Paced/Self Study, and this book from Sybex. To be honest. ALL THREE are lacking critical information required to pass the MCIS exam, however the Sybex book by far is the least informative, and it is missing information that the author indicated he would include.A specific example is DNS Security (DNSSEC). This is a topic covered on the MS exam and the author mentions that further coverage of DNSSEC would be provided in the 70-642 section of the book. However, the DNS coverage in the 70-642 section mentions NOTHING about DNSSec (sadly, the DNS coverage in the 70-642 section consists of 2 pages of high level material). The 70-642 exam provides an in-depth questioning about DNS servers and configuration, yet the author has chosen to provide a minimal review and coverage of DNS.
There is some simplification of some of the concepts that the official MS curriculum tended to minimize or over complicate.
